Anne is pursuing her PhD in Social Science and has fifteen years of experience in human rights and non-profit work especially relating to children’s rights, statelessness and recently on child labour issues in oil palm plantations

Stephie Joseph Benedict (Senior Programme Administrator) graduated from Universiti Teknologi MARA with a Masters in Art, History and Cultural Management in 2019. She has 4 years experience working in non-profits including 3 years in Good Shepherd Services, working on issues of sexual gender based violence among women, youths and children.

Nur Cameliah binti Thomas (Community Engagement Manager) graduated in 2013 from Ascot Academy with a Certificate in Hospitality. Her experience includes four years as a programme assistant in WWF-Malaysia and one year as a Research Assistant with Dr. Amanda Cheong from the University of British Columbia researching on statelessness. She is currently a legal secretary in a firm that is known for taking up probono criminal cases involving migrants and the undocumented.

Alanis Mah graduated from the Sabah Institute of Art with a Diploma in Graphic Design. As an illustrator and graphic designer at Advocates for Non-Discrimination and Access to Knowledge (ANAK), Alanis works in developing awareness materials focused on the issue of statelessness in Sabah. She works closely with team ANAK to create infographics that visually represent the complexities of statelessness, helping to inform and raising awareness among the public.

Aime Marisa, the Policy & Advocacy Officer at Advocates for Non-Discrimination and Access to Knowledge (ANAK), is a law graduate deeply committed to addressing statelessness in Malaysia. Her personal experience with the issue gives her a profound understanding of the challenges faced by stateless individuals, driving her advocacy for comprehensive legal reforms and equitable citizenship rights. She also has experience working with international NGOs and community-based organizations on migrant worker and refugee rights in Malaysia.

In 2013, Hani pursued a degree in International Relations at the Universiti Malaysia Sabah and was inspired to learn about children’s rights after taking Human Rights classes in her third year of study. Having graduated in 2017, she worked as a Research Assistant relating to access to CRVS (Civil Registration and Vital Statistics) for migrant families in Sabah. For the past years, Hani has worked in community development and human rights issues, focusing on issues affecting migrant women and children in Sabah. Her outstanding contribution was in the area of rights to identity, assisting hundreds of Indonesian families in registering birth certificates for their children to keep them from becoming stateless.

Melisa Hassan, Program Officer (Case Management) at Advocates for Non-Discrimination and Access to Knowledge (ANAK), graduated from Mulawarman University in Indonesia with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences. With a profound understanding of the challenges faced by stateless individuals, Melisa leverages her personal experiences to provide invaluable support and guidance. She contributes to assisting stateless and undocumented individuals in navigating complex bureaucratic processes to obtain necessary documentation, ensuring they have access to essential services and legal rights. She is highly dedicated to advocating for the rights and well-being of marginalized communities.
